Who we are:
We are Albuquerque educators advocating for the humanity of our immigrant community.
Teachers Against Child Detention (TACD) was formed by some of the 2018 State Teachers of the Year, including the 2018 New Mexico Teacher of the Year. TACD is an alliance between teachers, educational associations, immigrant rights advocates, faith-based organizations and people concerned about the welfare of innocent immigrant children and their families in U.S. Government detention.
Teachers are mandatory reporters, required under U.S. law to report suspected child abuse to responsible authorities.
TACD calls on all educators to act as mandatory reporters to demand the immediate release of all innocent immigrant children in U.S. Government custody and the closure of all detention centers housing immigrant children.
WE BELIEVE
All children deserve to be in school.
All children deserve to be free.
We demand the release of our children.
